Reviewed in November 2026. Before taking the boat to Tabarca, it is worth checking the sea conditions. Here is a live webcam of the Alicante coast (with a timelapse of the day) and, below, how to read what you see and where to check the forecast.
Windy network camera on the Alicante coast (north view). It does not show the island, but it is useful for checking the sea and sky in the area. If it does not load, open it directly on Windy.
Other webcams and forecasts for Tabarca
- Santa Pola – Gran Playa (SkylineWebcams): the closest camera to the port where most boats leave from. View webcam.
- Wind and wave forecast for the island: the Windy.app spot for Tabarca island shows wind, gusts and wave height hour by hour.
How to tell if the boats will run
- Easterly wind (levante) or swell: this causes most cancellations. If the camera shows a lot of foam and waves breaking hard, there may be cancellations or only the larger boats may sail.
- Calm sea and clear sky: a good day for the crossing and for snorkelling, as the water will be clearer.
- There is no published wind limit: the skipper or the maritime authority decides based on sea conditions. If the operator cancels, they will refund your ticket or change the date.
- In low season (November to January) there are very few departures: always call the operator before you go.
What to do if the weather is bad
If the day is rough, you can postpone your visit or choose the large catamaran instead of the fast launch, as it moves less. See our guides to Tabarca in bad weather and the boat from Santa Pola (timetables, prices and parking), and if you are travelling off season, Tabarca in winter.
